Text Box: Practitioners encourage children to build independence and confidence.
Equipment is age appropriate with a fine balance to ensure enough equipment is available to stretch children when the time is right.
Text Box: The toddler room is divided into areas including a soft area, table top activities, home-corner and carpet.
The room has a day structure, which is not rigid or formal, but encourages children to start understanding the concept of time. Activities are changed frequently throughout the day as practitioners are aware that concentration levels in the toddler room are still limited.

Text Box:  During the day the children can have a constant supply of drinks, breakfast is provided, consisting of fruit and toast. School meals are available or you can provide a packed lunch and all children staying for a full day will need a packed tea. Parents and carers should be aware that tea's will not heated.

Text Box: Meal times are important for the children's personal social and emotional development. We ensure children sit when eating and offer support where needed with feeding.

Text Box: The nursery has a large indoor play area, currently we use this in the rain and during free-play, the children can ride bikes and cars, push prams, play ball games and use the climbing apparatus.
This area has a soft play area and large ball pool.
In the far left of the photograph you will see the 'Creative area' otherwise known as the 'Messy room'! Children have the opportunity to enjoy many craft activities as well as sand and water.

Text Box: The toddler and baby units have their own outdoor area, separate from that of the pre-school building. There is a sand pit, climbing frame and a wide assortment of outdoor toys.

Text Box: The outdoor area is securely fenced with both hard surface and grass.

Text Box: Daisychain has a strong belief in fresh air and physical play especially for this age group of children, children will play out at least once in the morning and once in the afternoon. They will also enjoy walks in the grounds and along to the station, but we will not take the children off the school grounds ( with the exception of Falmer station).

Text Box: For children to join the 'Toddler' room they must be over one and walking solidly, this may mean that when joining your young child who may have just started walking we would need to access where your child will be best suited, the baby unit or toddler unit.
Daily home diaries ensure you are aware of when your child has slept and for how long, how many wet and dirty nappies they have had, how much food they have eaten and what activities they have participated in. It is also your opportunity to pass feed-back to us.
